MEDIMAG is a new medical guide in Guatemala, created to bring together the country’s most trusted specialists and subspecialists in one accessible space. The project has two main components:
A printed magazine, designed to accompany readers on their path to integral well-being by offering a curated directory of health professionals and expert insights for everyday challenges. It aims to inspire readers to discover new ways of caring for themselves, supported by a community committed to wellness. A website, built to showcase detailed doctor profiles, making information easy to find and allowing users to book appointments directly through WhatsApp.
Despite the demanding timeline — especially while leading and executing additional projects simultaneously in the design area — this project taught me a lot and strengthened both my technical and organizational skills.
Created while working at Look Group as a new sub-brand. Scarleth Amaya as account manager. And Brandon Tueque as photographer.
My Role: I executed the following end-to-end:
Branding; editorial design, layout, and production for the magazine; website design and development in WordPress (Elementor Pro + ACF); social media design; and full project organization, text coordination, planning, and execution — all managed independently based on the requirements set by my bosses and the commercial team in alignment with client needs.
Key Learnings & Challenges
Throughout the project, I optimize my time, streamline workflows, and create reusable templates to speed up execution. I also learned to work with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to structure the website so new doctor profiles could be added easily — both by me and by anyone who would manage the project afterward.
Another major challenge was implementing filtering functionality to help users search for medical specialties efficiently. This required custom HTML inserts to ensure everything worked seamlessly within Elementor in WordPress.
iNITIAL process
In the initial planning and design stage, I established guidelines, created the moodboard, and organized the layout structure. I also evaluated the pros and cons of different platforms to decide where to build the website, comparing Shopify and WordPress.
Once I worked on the branding, defined logo, magazine cover, style, etc. I started by working first on the guide/magazine, then the web page and at last the social media material. The way I organize myself visually is on Figma so is easier to be revised by my account manager and have a control with her and clients.
GUIDE/MAGAZINE
The magazine was originally conceived as a collection of medical profiles organized by specialty. However, as we considered the needs of readers, the project expanded to include articles, a directory, and additional sections that enriched the content and complemented the doctors’ profiles.
WEBPAGE
As the project evolved, the website needed to be intuitive, simple, minimalist, and able to clearly present the key information for each doctor. This became an interesting challenge: even though I had previous experience with WordPress, I had to find a scalable way to structure the site so it could be easily maintained and updated through well-built templates.
